If you want to get into interior design, you may not have to have an education to get involved, but as with anything, it might be a good idea to do so. There are many schools that offer interior design courses, and all you have to do is decide that you want to attend, and then find the one you think is the best fit for you. Don’t worry about it taking a huge chunk out of your life either. Most courses for this last about two years, or in some cases, some are as short as eighteen months, and offer an associate degree.

The college I went to had interior design courses, though that is not what I went for. One girl I knew was in the classes, and I have to admit that I was very interested in what she learned each quarter. There were even times when I thought perhaps I had signed up for the wrong thing when I went to school. She was always learning things in her interior design courses that I thought were fun and interesting. Had they let me, I might have tried to go to class with her.

Perhaps my interest came from the fact that my aunt was in remodeling homes, though she never went through interior design courses. She learned by working with someone who had been doing it for a while, and then went out on her own. She didn’t do fancy setups, but could do almost anything that someone would want done with paint or wallpaper. She eventually went on to work with computers, but she told me that she has always loved working with colors, and that is one things she misses about her old career. She still does work on occasion, but most of it is in her own home.

If you want to go through interior design courses, you just have to figure out where you are willing to go, and then choose from there. If you don’t want to have to go too far from home, your local community college might offer the interior design courses that you are looking for. If you want to move away from home for a college experience, you can choose from almost any large city in any state. Almost all of them have at least one school that offers interior design instruction, along with many other interesting career choices.
